Our second of three pillar nights took place last night on January 30th. Community involvement was excellent as over 50 parents participated in one of the three workshop activities. For parents who were unable to attend, we have included direct links to the faculty webpages and presentations.
K-1 iPad Workshop:
First grade teachers Mrs. Jean Marie Sette and Mrs. Robin Heroux walked parents through some of the exciting Apple iPad apps they use in their classroom on a daily basis. Parents were able to work with our new Apple iPad’s, taking a hands-on approach during the workshop. For reference, we have included the iTunes links to the apps discussed along with the presentation.
2-4 Video Workshop:
Technology specialist Mr. Richard Stemple discussed the power of storytelling using the online resource XtraNormal. Parents had an opportunity to use our new Dell laptops to instantly turn their words into a 3D animated movie! Click to view the 2-4 Video Workshop handout (.pdf).
5-8 Chromebook & Voicethread Workshop:
Seventh and eight grade ELA teacher Ms. Jennifer Kelly-Hollis discussed the various ways Voicethread.com is used in her classroom with our grade-level carts of Google Chromebooks. Voicethread.com is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that allows students and faculty to discuss and comment on projects using higher level learning practices. Director of Technology Luke Callahan provided an overview of the current Google Apps for Education program and the current implementation of the 2:1 Google Chromebook program.
