Last week, second grade students went on a field trip to the USS Constitution Museum at the Charlestown Naval Yard. Over the past month, students have learned about the War of 1812, commemorated this year for its 200th anniversary. The classroom was extended for students at the mueseum as they learned about various roles/jobs people had aboard “Old Ironsides”, the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.

During the field trip, students were split into smaller groups and given a role to learn. After researching and working as a team, students performed skits to relay their information to the other groups. Students also went onto Old Ironsides and were given a short tour by a naval officer. A great time was had by all!
