Students in Mr. Stemple’s Video Game Workshop are working with a web based, graphical programming software program created by the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The program, called Scratch, allows our students to learn an educational programming language, think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively!
Video Game Workshop students had to first create a dancing sprite to a specific pattern. Students then had to find a game and then add their own custom touch by adding program music, sound, motions, color, backgrounds and changing objects. Students helped each other program their games as well as use problem solving skills to overcome programming issues. Students created descriptions, using Google Docs, of how to play their games. Below are some student examples.
