The summer months provide an opportune time to read, enjoy stories and learn new information from books. When parents and children read together, they are building language and new knowledge. They also create wonderful memories and experiences, which stay with children for many years.Our staff have put together summer reading lists and projects designed to foster enjoyment of reading, to expose students to a variety of genres, and to encourage independent reading. It is intended to help students maintain reading proficiencies acquired during the school year. In addition to a hard copy included with your child’s report card, we have posted them here for you to access. Enjoy the rest of your summer break!
As the upcoming school year quickly approaches, we have gathered supply lists for each grade or class to eliminate the guess work of what will be needed for the school year. As you begin to purchase supplies, make sure to keep this checklist handy to make your back-to-school shopping as easy as 1, 2, 3!
In the past, many parents have asked what they can do over the summer to help their children maintain math skills and develop mathematical thinking. This year, we are making available summer math calendars to help your child retain his/her skills and to provide valuable practice over the summer. Please feel free to discuss the work with your child and provide any support as needed. Students may enjoy working with classmates, siblings, or parents. The hope is that this packet provides an opportunity for your child to practice his or her math skills for a few minutes each day.
A few things to note:
• Our goal is to have students doing math over the summer
• Teachers would like everyone to attempt the packet
• Teachers will be collecting packets (complete or incomplete) at the beginning of the school year. This will enable teachers to determine strengths and areas of review for their students.
• Packets will not be graded
• There is no penalty for not doing the packet
