The Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School offers a chorus program to interested sixth, seventh and eighth grade students. Chorus rehearsal is scheduled in the morning before school begins, where student’s learn a wide variety of music, including holiday pieces, major choral works, musical and pop literature. Chorus and symphonic band are scheduled on different mornings, so that students may participate in both performing groups, if interested.
Students are supported in learning how to use their voice as an instrument and to embrace the joy of singing. In addition, students learn proper music vocabulary, diction and singing technique is stressed.
Students perform for the school community twice during the school year and support the community service pillar of the school by singing at local nursing homes and senior centers.
