At last night’s annual science fair, students showcased exciting projects and were available to present and discuss their findings. Using the engineering design process, students in the sixth grade showed off their Rube Goldberg machines. Students crafted multi-step machines from items around the house which performed one of four tasks: pop a balloon; turn a page in a book; capture a mouse; or play at least one move of a game against an opponent.

Our seventh grade scientists strutted their stuff by sharing experiments and research findings with the community. Some of the topics examined by students included magnetism, genomes, electricity and athletic techniques. Eighth grade scientists came ready to “sell” their creative inventions or innovations to the eager BFCCPS community. Products included everything from eco-friendly food storage and cookware to slippers that are lit by LED lights! Future entrepreneurs and engineers abound!
