Every Thursday afternoon, a parade of parents (and sometimes grandparents!) cheerfully arrives to spend time in the classroom as the “Mystery Reader”. This is just one of the many ways that we welcome Parents as the Primary Educators to help out as volunteers.
We are incredibly fortunate to have numerous dedicated parent volunteers who assist in center-based activities, during recess and lunch and to serve as Room Parents to coordinate various classroom activities.
All BFCCPS parents are also automatically members of our Parent Community Organization. We thank you all for your very generous support of the recent PCO Fundraiser, please remember that the Fall Fundraiser delivery will be held Friday afternoon from 3-7pm. Items can not be sent home with students, and that we do not have the ability to store your purchases here on site. The PCO thanks you in advance for your cooperation!
I encourage you to join us this evening for the Parent Pillar Night on Technology from 6:30-8:30 pm. Our presenters for the evening will be Mr Duque, Mrs. Sette, Mr. Stemple, Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Herliczek. Parents will learn about the use of Google Aps for Education in both the elementary and middle school settings, and I am also very excited to highlight some innovative uses of technology both to enhance communication with parents, and also to help prepare our students for success in this new digital age.
Students in grades 5-8 are invited to attend a Harvest Social which will be hosted by the Student Council. The event will be held Friday night from 5-8pm and will feature a DJ and games. Pizza, water, and snacks will be available with a purchase of a meal ticket. Tickets will be available for $2 with a canned good donation for the Franklin Food Pantry or for $3 without a donation. No tickets will be sold at the door; tickets must be purchased in advance during lunch.
Students who have participated in classes at FSPA in this trimester’s Arts Block will have the opportunity to showcase the techniques that they have learned in a short morning program to be held at 11am on November 24, 2014 at THE BLACK BOX, the newly opened home of the Franklin Performing Arts Company. The French Melodie class at FSPA builds upon students existing knowledge of the French language, culture and history. Dance is a beginner/intermediate jazz class that introduces basic dance vocabulary, technique and combinations. I look forward to the presentations and will have photos and hopefully video to share with you soon.
We look forward to seeing you for the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences, which will commence on Friday morning for parents of students in grades 5-8, with additional sessions on Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday. Report cards will be sent home this afternoon with your students. Babysitting will available for conferences on Monday from 12:30-6 and again on Tuesday from 8am – 2 pm. The cost is $10 per family, and is available for children age five and up. The proceeds will benefit the upcoming 7th Grade Field Trip to Quebec.
We wish you all a wonderful and relaxing break with your families and we look forward to seeing you again in December!
