October and November Capstone Announcements
A number of our Grade 8 Students are working on their Capstone Projects and have donation drives, events, after school clubs in the works to benefit their various service projects. We hope tjhat BFCCPS families will take a moment to review their announcements listed below and see if there is a project or two that your family would be interested in supporting. On behalf of the entire Grade 8 we thank you for your support!
Aiden K. will be doing a sock drive (for ladies and men’s socks) as part of his Capstone Project. with the Jo Foundation which helps end homelessness for adults. He will have a bin located in the front of the school from 9/26 through 10/31 from 8 am to 3 pm. Celebrate Socktober! Wear crazy socks on Monday, October 31st and bring in a pair of new warm men’s or women’s socks.
Philip N will be working with Project Linus for his Capstone to give children in hospitals comfort items. He will be asking for new fleece fabric and will have donation bins around the school from 10/17 – 10/28. A Blanket making party will be held on 11/4 to help assemble the donated materials into finished blankets. All who wish to participate are welcome to attend.
Jack P. will hold a donation drive for his Capstone project supporting the Special Olympics from October 24-28th for lightly used sports equipment. You’ll find a list of needed items just below.
Happy Halloween! Come On, Come All to the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Lighting on October 28th! Carve a pumpkin and return at night to see it aglow! Drop it off on Friday morning in the courtyard then return at night to see it aglow! Sponsored by Keven H’s Capstone project.
Saiteja T. in Grade 8 will be holding a donation drive for at-risk kids. He is looking for lightly used winter gear (coats, gloves and hats). It lasts from November 1st through November 15. Please make sure to donate, the bins will be located near the Trophy Case.
Daniel C. will host a Games Club on 11/4 for students in Grades 3-5. They will play the student’s choice of games like capture the flag or kickball. Please bring 2 dollars and a donation for the Milford Humane Society; a no kill cat shelter. Please email Mr. Perna to sign up at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please bring your own snack following the same guidelines as during the school day, and be sure to bring a water too!
Connor M. will host a Hat Day for all students and faculty on 11/18. For a $1 donation to the Jimmy Fund you can wear a hat to school!
Vagmi K. and Bella P. will be holding a donation drive 11/14- 11/18. Vagmi is working with The Floating Hospital and Bella is working with The Medway House. Tufts (The Floating Hospital) is a teaching hospital that works with both kids and adults. Vagmi visited the hospital and her contact Andrea said that the kids wanted more movies to watch to entertain themselves. She will be collecting DVDs, markers, colored pencils, and crayons for the drive. Bella is donating books for the Medway house for the same reason. The women there are getting bored and her contact also wanted the books to entertain the people. Sitting around in a place with very few options for entertainment is hard and this is why we are asking you to donate these things. Even one donation would be very helpful. The girls would really appreciate anything that you give to support their projects.
Please note: No food will be allowed at the event.
