Mrs. Urkevic’s Science Club, which meets every Thursday from 3:30-4:30PM, has been studying the engineering design process in order to learn how engineers solve problems in our daily lives.

During last week’s session, students are focusing on water purification, comparing the effectiveness of coffee filters on different types of contaminated waters. For the upcoming session, students will be examining the effectiveness of wire screens and a mixture of sand/gravel on the clarity of the same contaminated water. Finally, based on their conclusions, students will become environmental engineers themselves, designing their own water filters.
