On Monday, May 9th, Mr. Stemple’s library and technology first grade class went to the Franklin fire station as a culmination of a reading unit in Library class about literacy and fire safety. In past years, the class has toured the Franklin Public Library; due to their remolding project, an alternate plan was created. This was a great opportunity to bring reading to life as well as a chance to walk outside and learn about a great Franklin resource. Mrs. Heroux and Mr. Stemple escorted the students of 1H on a walking field trip to the Franklin Fire Department. Firefighter Bill and Firefighter Keith gave our group a tour of the firehouse, showing off their equipment and vehicles. The highlight of our trip came when they set up a fire hose and allowed each student a chance to spray water from it! Thank you to the staff and firefighters for a great and memorable experience!
