Dear BFCCPS Community:
I am sitting down to write this letter after just finishing packing up my office. Tomorrow, the movers will be here to finish our move to 500 Financial Park.
There have been a lot of emotions around school the past few weeks. Sadness for leaving the building that has been our home for the past 24 years. Some anxiety around what it will be like at a new, bigger school; and a whole lot of excitement for a building that is ours, the opportunity to welcome new students and their families, as well as faculty and staff who are so excited to join our community… and lockers. There is a lot of excitement around lockers!
I am so appreciative for the opportunity to have been located at 201 Main Street for the past 24 years. It enabled us to build an amazing educational institution and a tremendously supportive community. We will always be grateful for our time here. But this community has worked so hard to have our own facility where we can offer a full complement of after school programming, where we can grow and expand our academic program to allow more families the opportunity to be part of this amazing community. A building that will allow us to have more collaborative working spaces for our students, science labs that will enable us to strengthen our science program, dedicated language classrooms & a brand new makerspace where we can combine Science, Technology,Engineering, Art & Mathematics in our new STEAM classes. This new building is not going to change who we are, but enable us to enhance the aspects of our school that make us different from other area schools
While there are a lot of changes on the horizon for our school, and a lot to be excited about, what will not change is our deep commitment to the Mission of our school. It has guided us to build an award winning charter school, a warm, welcoming, strong community, and develop students who continue to embody the four pillars of our mission long after they graduate from BFCCPS. I am so proud of all that we have accomplished over the past 24 years, and I am so excited to see what we will continue to accomplish in our next 24!
