Susan Weidman

Welcome

What went on in room three this week?
(May 14 - 18)

Happy Friday!  This was another great week in second grade.  We worked hard and got lots done.

FYI-our class will visit the Book Fair on Tuesday, May 22 at 10:30.  We had to reschedule our time due to a scheduling conflict.  If you are able to meet us, please go to the auditorium.

In reading the boys and girls read several myths.  They also wrote their own myths with a talking plant as a main character, focusing on including a strong opening statement to grab the readers’ attention.  We also worked on identifying adjectives and the nouns the adjectives describe.

We completed several word problems in mathematics adding three-digit numbers with regrouping.  We will continue with this next week and will also work on subtracting three-digit numbers with ungrouping.

Mrs. Alibaeva was one mystery reader this week.  She read the class two stories about Ramadan, the Muslim holiday that began at sunset this past Tuesday.  Mrs. Harter was another mystery reader.  She read the books Pea Patch Island by Polly Curren and The Berenstain Bears: The Golden Rule by Stan and Jan Berenstain.  The boys and girls always enjoy our mystery readers—thank you for coming in to read!

Sincerely,
Sue Weidman
