Mandy Irwin
Welcome
Hello BFCCPS Friends,
I can already tell that BFCCPS is a special place and I am excited to be joining this community!
As the new Director of Student Services, I look forward to coming alongside students, parents, teachers and administration to promote a community of belonging where each student is well-served and feels valued. I am a champion for students who have challenges that make school difficult for them. My goals are to help students thrive—not just survive—in school, to support teachers in the mission to help students find success in the classroom, and to partner with parents in the educational process.
Through more than 25 years of regular and special education teaching and administration, I have developed a viewpoint and approach that centers on personal connection coupled with orderly and predictable systems. Most recently I have been the Director of Student Academic Services at Whitinsville Christian School, so it will be nice to continue this familiar work in my hometown of Franklin.
On a personal note, I am a lifelong Massachusetts resident, having grown up in Carlisle, attended Wheelock College in Boston for my B.S and M.S., and worked in public and private schools in the State. My husband Ross (who grew up in Scotland and has a wonderful Scottish brogue) and I have just celebrated 30 years of marriage. We have two children, Heather who is a 2nd grade teacher and is married and expecting our first grandchild, and Colin who is a senior at UMASS Lowell studying mechanical engineering. When I am not working I can be found gardening and landscaping, painting walls or furniture, tinkering in home interior design, doing puzzles, reading, running and biking, or—not often enough—going to the beach.
I truly look forward to getting to know you!
Warm regards,
Mandy Irwin
