As part of the classical education mission, Latin is taught at the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School beginning in grades three and continuing through the eighth grade. Students in our third and fourth grades have Latin for one period, bi-weekly. Students in the fifth grade have Latin for one period weekly and students in sixth through eighth grade have Latin two periods each week.

Beginning with exposure to the language and culture, the curriculum spirals to emphasize, vocabulary, grammar, connections to the English Language and speaking.  Through the teaching of Latin, we also reinforce some of the school Social Studies and ELA curriculum.

The Latin curriculum utilizes the textbook Ecce Romani 1A in our fifth through eighth grades.

All of our seventh and eighth grade students participate in the National Latin Exams, annually.
