Dear BFCCPS Families,

We are pleased to announce the Classical Enrichment Block classes for the 2019-2020 school year.  Classical Enrichment Block classes are offered by trimester and cover a multitude of topics across all content areas.  These unique classes touch on many aspects of our school’s Classical Education pillar and will be a great way to start off the week; this year’s schedule moves Classical Enrichment to the first class of the day each Monday.

Based on feedback from previous Classical Enrichment Block teachers, we have adjusted the length of the enrichment classes for the 2019-2020 schedule. Many teachers indicated that this length was challenging to fill from a programmatic standpoint and that students had a hard time staying engaged for a full 84 minutes. As a result, this year classes will be 50 minutes in length. The remaining 34 minutes have been returned to the Grade 6-8 schedule; the grade level teachers have an extra “flex block” built into the weekly schedule that can be used as needed and we know that students will be pleased to learn that this year’s schedule also includes an additional five minutes of lunch and five additional minutes of recess.
Please take time to review the catalog as a family before making your selection.  There are many exciting new classes being offered this year!  The sign-up form will be sent to you on Friday, August 16.  Sign-ups must be completed by Monday, September 2.

Please Note:

Students may not take a course more than once in a school year. This allows students to get a broader experience of the courses offered in all of the content areas.

All incoming Grade 6 Students will be assigned to the class “Let’s Research” for Trimester 1.  Please check off “Let’s Research” as your choice for Trimester 1.

Incoming Grade 6 Students then choose an elective for Trimesters 2 and 3.

Academic Support:

Students who are having difficulty in their academic classes may be placed into the Academic Support Class instead of their chosen Enrichment class for that trimester.

During their time in Academic Support, students will work with support teachers to identify trouble areas and the skills needed to succeed in their work.

Course Registration:

Electronic Registration is scheduled for August 16-September 2 and

must be completed by Monday, September 2, 2019
