Thank you to the many families that were able to join us for the Expansion Celebration. This was a wonderful opportunity to see the architectural plans up close, view drone footage that documents the progress on site to date and have a more thorough understanding of the construction timeline. For those of you that were unable to join us, we are thrilled to share the that the site work has already begun, the lot has been fully cleared, and we anticipate that construction of the physical building will begin very soon!

We are also very happy to be able to clarify that the expansion project does include financing for the gymnasium as a Phase II piece of the expansion project. However, we are not able to access these funds until we have met certain enrollment and cash flow benchmarks in the 2019-2020 school year.  During the event we reviewed the construction timeline for the gymnasium and we expect that it will be complete during the 2020-2021 school year.  However, BFCCPS Community, here’s where we need your help! The Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation needs to raise approximately $350K to offset pre-construction costs for the gymnasium as well as the creation of two playgrounds at the new school.  It is necessary for us to raise these funds if we want to access the funding available to us in June, 2020, and if we want to open the new school with playground equipment when we open in August of 2019.
Don Tappin from the Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation and Jason Fine from the Board of Trustees detailed the exciting ways that you as parents can help us reach our goals.  Whether you can volunteer your time as a Director on the Foundation, a Trustee on the Board, joining the PCO Board, or joining the newly formed Capital Campaign Committee – we need your help!  Contact information is as follows:
  • Mr. Tappin for involvement on the BFEF or the Capital Campaign Committee
  • Mr. Fine for opportunities to serve on the Board of Trustees or on one of their numerous committees
  • Mrs. Wrona for opportunities to serve on the Parent Community Organization

We also wanted to include these pictures of the progress that has been made, including the discovery of this amazing rock that we will be keeping on campus!
