To help reinforce the importance of hand-washing, the BFCCPS Nursing Team performed an experiment with students.  Student hands were swabbed before and after hand-washing, the germs were transferred to Petri dishes and allowed to grow up into colonies of bacteria and viruses during Thanksgiving break.  As you can see, the results are impressive!

The team also spent time with grades K-4 using a lotion on their hands that “glows” under a black-light to show what areas need additional attention for thorough, effective handwashing.  Better handwashing leads to fewer sick days, which leads to more time to learn in the classroom!
