Student Population & Enrollment

We currently enroll 450-students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Students are from Franklin as well as over ten surrounding cities and towns. Each year, we have open enrollment season from mid-November through late February. Our goal is to make this process as easy to understand and to apply. In 2013, our Board of Trustees proposed a charter amendment to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to increase our enrollment to 900-students and regionalize to include 14-surrounding towns. Please stay up to date by viewing our Expansion Update page.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation on behalf of the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School (BFCCPS) is pleased to announce that construction has begun in preparation for the school’s upcoming move to 500 Financial Park Drive in Franklin.  The new 72,000 square foot facility will open for the 2019-2020 school year.

Parent/Student Handbook

We are committed to your child’s education and well being and believe that a strong partnership between school and your family will result in success for students. In addition to important communications you will find on our website, we also provide our Parent/Student Handbook to clarify any school matter that you may have. Any matter that is not clarified here; you are always welcome to call the school.

Dress Code

The purpose of our dress code is to encourage a positive learning environment by providing a clear, consistent guideline for attire that is modest, neat, safe and does not distract from learning. Please read our official Dress Code Policy page.

Location & School Hours

We are located at 201 Main Street in the heart of Franklin, Massachusetts, just outside of both Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. For directions to our school, please see our Directions page. There are two sets of school hours; kindergarten through fifth grade begin each day at 9:00AM with the school day ending at 3:00PM. Our sixth through eighth grade students begin each day at 8:15AM and end at 3:00PM. We do have a variety of after school events, which can be found on our Student Life page.

We were proudly named a 2011 Massachusetts School of Character and National School of Character by the Character Education Partnership as well as voted a top school in 2009 by Johns Hopkins University. We have been recognized as one of America’s 100 outstanding music schools with over 80% of our students participating in one of our four music ensembles. Executive Director – Mrs. Heather Zolnowski

Having joined BFCCPS in 2007  Mrs. Heather Zolnowski, M.Ed., served first as the Assistant Head of School then the Head of School for eleven years.  The Board of Trustees has voted to add an Executive Director to the administrative structure of the school to support the new school’s opening, and increased workload in the larger school.  

Head of School – Mr. Joseph Perna

Joseph Perna began his journey at BFCCPS 14 years ago as the K-8 Art Teacher.  In 2008, he filled in as acting Assistant Head of School during our Head of School’s maternity leave; Perna assumed the role of Director of Operations, Events, and Student Activities upon her return.  In 2012, Mr. Perna was named Assistant Head of School.  Following Mrs. Heather Zolnowski’s appointment of the school Executive Director in July 2018  Mr. Perna was named the Head of School and will lead the school’s day to day operations and management.
