The start of school for Kindergarten is different since they participate in Kindergarten Screening Activities, Open Houses and will begin attending school on Thursday September 9th & 10th with an early release at noon. Full day kindergarten will begin on Monday, September 13th.

School Start Times:
BFCCPS has a dual start time. Students in Kindergarten through Grade Five begin at 9am, and students in Grades Six through Eight start at 8:20 am.
- Students in Grade Six through Eight who are dropped off may begin doing so at 8 am.
- Students in Kindergarten through Grade five who are dropped off may begin doing so at 8:45 am.
- All students are dismissed at the end of the day at 3:05pm.
Virtual Town Hall & COVID Precautions
The BFCCPS Administration and Nurse Leader Christina Barrows held a Virtual Town Hall meeting on August 25th to review, mitigation strategies, COVID Quarantine protocols, and COVID-19 Testing programs.
Earlier this week, the BFCCPS Administrative team hosted a Virtual Town Hall Meeting during which we reviewed three Optional COVID Testing Programs week. If you were not able to join us, you can find the slideshow here.
Three types of free, onsite testing will be available to BFCCPS students, faculty and staff:
- Routine COVID Safety Check * previously known as pooled testing
- Rapid Point of Care Diagnostic Testing with Binax NOW
- “Test and Stay”
The BFCCPS Medical Advisory Team believes that these COVID testing programs are an important mitigation strategy designed to preserve in person learning at BFCCPS this fall.
We are happy to announce that the consent form is now available in one online form with no need for specific codes: COVID Testing Consent.
We had hoped that families would have the chance to consent to onsite testing programs individually; however, based on the information we have received, the consent for all three programs is combined and not available as individual testing programs. Please be advised that once we receive your consent, your student will be enrolled in all three programs.
Last year we created two videos to help illustrate the testing process. While the names of these programs have changed since the spring, the process will largely be the same.

Homeroom teacher assignments were posted on August 9th at 3pm. Parents can view their child’s homeroom teacher by logging into theSchoolBrains Parent portaltoday starting at 3pm. If you have forgotten your password, you can click the “forgot password” button to reset it. (Please note that if your child is new to BFCCPS this year, you will receive your login and password by email fromMrs. Gibeault.) In the weeks ahead there will be enhancements added to the SchoolBrains parent portal and we will provide more details on the new features closer to the start of the school year.

As you prepare for back to school, please be sure to review the BFCCPS Dress Code. The purpose of this dress code is to maintain a safe and respectful school environment that is conducive to learning.
Before and After School Care:
We are thrilled to announce that registration for the 2021-2022 Before and After School Care program will be available again this year. Registration for both programs are included in a single form this year, and all registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis.
Registration will be for particular days of the week for the duration of the trimester, i.e., every Monday or every Wednesday. Registration is now open and will run through August 25th and will take place via FamilyID
Students must be pre-registered, no drop in services are available. Before and After School Care tuition is paid twice per semester. The first payment is due by August 25, 2021 and the second payment is due by October 6, 2021. (Payment in full is also welcome.) Students who are enrolled in the program for the current trimester will have first right of refusal for registration for the next trimester. Breakfast and Lunch Ordering:
BFCCPS is pleased to offer Breakfast and Lunch ordering for the 2021-2022 School. Breakfast and Lunch is free to all BFCCPS students regardless of household eligibility through June 30, 2022. We strongly recommend pre-registering for lunch to ensure an accurate meal count and reduce food waste. Pre-registration will close at 5pm the Tuesday before the following week. Orders for the week of August 31st will close at 5pm on Tuesday, August 24th. Order forms will be posted to FamilyID as they become available for registration
One breakfast and two lunch choices will be offered daily. Breakfast and lunch orders each come with a choice of 0% or 1% milk and fresh fruit. Students who bring lunch from home may purchase milk a la carte. Money can be electronically added to your student’s account on the Parent Payment Portal.
Genuine Foods labeling is compliant for Top 8 Allergens (dairy, soy, peanut, tree-nut, fish, shellfish, egg, and wheat) A monthly Meal Allergen Report is available. Please contact Mrs. Jarvis firstname.lastname@example.org information.

School Dismissal Manager and Car Line Updates
School Dismissal Manager is a software program BFCCPS has used for the last few years that provides us with an organized and efficient tracking system for tardy and absence notification as well as afternoon dismissals. You can quickly and easily update your students’ attendance and dismissal instructions using the easy-to-use mobile and desktop interface.
You will receive an email from School Dismissal Manager that contains important instructions and your personal login credentials. Once you receive your credentials, please use them to log into the new system so that you can begin to familiarize yourself with it and set up your child’s default dismissal schedule.

It is critical that families update dismissal instructions so we can ensure we have accurate information as to how your child(ren) should be sent home on the first day of school. We have learned from past years that setting up your default dismissals works best on the website at https://www.schooldismissalmanager.com/

Moving forward, parents should use School Dismissal Manager to report student absences, notify us of early dismissals and any change to dismissal plans to ensure a safe dismissal each day.
It is very important that any returning parents who have used the School Dismissal phone app before uninstall the previous version. The new version must be downloaded from this location since the The app is NO LONGER available in the Apple or Android app stores.
Two Loading Zones: BFCCPS staff will load students into vehicles both along the back and gymnasium side of the school building in two lines of cars. This will allow us to load twice as many students in a round than we have in the past. Vehicles will be released one side at a time, as we have in the past.
Dismissal via the Commons: Students that are being dismissed by Carline, will be centrally dismissed from the school commons. This was not possible last year, but returning to gathering in a central location will also allow us to load cars much more efficiently.
As with any new system, we expect there to be a learning curve and delays in the first days of school. We are optimistic that after that this approach will prove to be safe and efficient.
