2017-2018 School Calendar
The 2017-2018 School Year Calendar is available on our website and we invite you to download a copy HERE. A few important highlights are as follows:
- The first day of school for students in Grade One through Eight will be Tuesday, August 29th. Kindergarten students will have an Open house from 9:30 – 11am. Please note a parent must attend this Open House with their child.
- Kindergarten Students will report for their first 1/2 day of attendance on Wednesday August 30th.
- Our first week of school will be a three day week with a day off on Friday, September 1st. Our second week of school will be a four day week with a day off on Monday, September 4th in observance of Labor Day. Our first full five day week will be September 11th through September 15th.
- Parent teacher conferences in November have again been scheduled just prior to the Thanksgiving Break. This allows us to issue the first trimester Report Cards in advance of the meetings which provides tangible data for discussion.
- Barring any snow days, this schedule affords us a last day of school on June 15th – this date will be adjusted pending any snow days.
Morning Care & After School Options
Before school care is available for a nominal fee beginning at 7:30 am. Our faculty and staff supervise and provide a safe, fun environment that helps students start their day off right. You can find more details about the BFCCPS Morning Care program here. Signups for our Morning Care program will be available over the summer.
In the event that you need after-school care, BFCCPS students are currently attending before and after-school programs at the YMCA Bernon Family Branch, Elemen-Tree House, Adirondack Club: Active Kids, and Franklin Solutions. Each of these programs offer bus transportation from our school to their location.
The Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School provides a hot lunch and milk option to all students. Hot lunch is pre-ordered monthly through our online system and is currently provided by Papa Ginos. Milk and juice are available and can be pre-ordered at the beginning of the year and is currently supplied by Garelick Farms.
Operating in full compliance with the Massachusetts School Nutrition Guidelines, our shared goal is to ensure that we offer students food and beverage choices that enhance learning, contribute to healthy growth and development and cultivate lifelong healthy eating behaviors. For more information on these guidelines please see School Nutrition Association of Massachusetts.
Free and reduced lunch is available for qualifying families. More details about this program will be available this summer.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact our lunch coordinator, Stephanie McGovern.
If you live in Franklin, Bus Registration is organized by the Franklin Transportation Department. Bus schedules and passes will be available in late August. You can find FAQ’s for the Franklin Transportation Department here.
Regional Transportation Survey
If you reside outside of Franklin, but within the BFCCPS Region you are eligible for our Regional Transportation Service. As a reminder, this regional transportation offering would consist of community bus stops throughout the region, this would not be a door-to-door service.
This year’s buses begin their route around 7:30am and arrive at BFCCPS about 8:15am. In the afternoon, the buses leave BFCCPS around 3:20pm and could arrive anytime before 4.
If you have any questions regarding Franklin or Regional Transportation please contact Mrs. Schwab at firstname.lastname@example.org
Grades 1- 8 New Student Information Survey
We’re so excited to welcome you to BFCCPS! We’d love to learn a little more about you so that our new student team can help you have a great transition to our school.
If you haven’t already done so, we hope that your student will take a moment to fill out a brief questionnaire that will help our team during their transition to BFCCPS.
Mrs. McCoy will be helping to coordinate our New Student Buddy Program and will be in touch with contact information for your new student. Mrs. Basile would be happy to organize a building tour and a day visit, please be sure to complete the questionnaire so that we can organize an existing BFCCPS student to shadow during their stay.
