“Le Grand Concours” is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of French Teachers. More than 85,000 students in all 50 states and Puerto Rico participated this year.

Our students, here at BFCCPS, did incredibly well. We had 54 Medalists in total.

It takes courage to participate in such a contest and I commend everyone who took part in it this year’s Concours. They are all winners for persevering and knowing that they had the choice not to participate. Bravo! Our special guest this year was the French Consul General, M. Valery Freland who came with two other officials. We were also proud to have an alumni from 2007, Edie Richardson, come and talk to our students of how the studying of languages changed the course of her life and opened so many doors for her.

In Grade 6, we had 4 Gold, 1 Silver, 8 Bronze and 20 Honor.

In Grade 7, we had 7 Gold, 5 Silver, 6 Bronze and 16 Honor.

In Grade 8, we had 8 Gold, 11 Silver, 4 Bronze and 12 Honor.

The goal of our program is to stimulate a lasting love for the French language and culture. We hope to inspire students to continue their language studies beyond their time here at BFCCPS.
